2 in Laurel County Arrested After Kids Accidentally Eat Marijuana Brownies
Laurel County, KY – A Sunday night incident led to the arrest of two adults after two children were hospitalized for accidentally consuming marijuana-laced brownies. Deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence on Robert E. Cox Road, located about nine miles south of London, around 10 p.m., following a report of a possible overdose involving two juveniles. When officers arrived, they spoke with Tammy Lynn Cundiff, the children’s mother, and Brian Taylor Smith. Investigators say the pair had made two different batches of brownies — one regular and one containing marijuana — and the children unknowingly ate the drug-infused ones. Social services responded to the home to begin their own investigation. The children’s father was notified and transported them to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin for medical treatment. Cundiff, 30, and Smith, 29, were taken into custody and charged with public intoxication (controlled substances) and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. They were booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.
