Campbellsville Woman Charged with First-Degree Assault After Smith Ridge Road Stabbing
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A Taylor County woman is behind bars following a stabbing that took place Wednesday afternoon on Smith Ridge Road. According to the Campbellsville Police Department, officers were called to a residence on October 1, 2025, at approximately 12:57 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found 44-year-old Erica Meredith suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was given medical treatment at the scene following the attack. After conducting an investigation, police identified 35-year-old Kayla Thompson, also of Campbellsville, as the suspect. Thompson was located and taken into custody shortly afterward. She has been charged with first-degree assault in connection with the incident. The investigation is being led by Detective Stephen Dobson and was assisted by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Shannon Wilson approved the arrest.
