Johnson County Man Arrested After Woman’s Wrist Slashed With Machete
A Johnson County man is facing a felony assault charge after a woman reported that he cut her wrist with a machete during a domestic incident on the night of December 5.
According to Kentucky State Police, 51-year-old Ronnie R. Mollett of Spring Knob Road in Boons Camp was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault (domestic violence). He was booked into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center following the incident.
Troopers Timothy Fletcher and Tyler Hall responded to a call on Tomahawk Road around 11:20 p.m. after a woman was dropped off at a residence claiming Mollett had attacked her and then fled in a black and white Toyota pickup. When troopers arrived, they found the victim on the porch with two other women. The victim had blood on her clothing and her wrist had been wrapped in makeshift bandages. The women told troopers they had attempted to clean up blood inside the residence and had placed several bloody rags outside.
One witness reported that Mollett had been physically assaulting the victim earlier that day at the victim’s mother’s home and believed he had returned to his residence. The victim stated she and Mollett were arguing when he “came at her with a machete.”

EMS transported the woman to Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Troopers then went to Mollett’s home and made contact with him. At first, Mollett repeatedly claimed he “didn’t know what happened,” according to the arrest citation. He later admitted they had been arguing and said the incident occurred inside the residence. Mollett claimed he held the machete flat and intended to strike her on the backside, but when she put her arm down, the blade cut her wrist. He told troopers he didn’t know how the injury occurred.
Troopers reported finding blood on the doorknob and along the path from Mollett’s doorway to a vehicle.
During a hospital interview, the victim told Trooper Hall that Mollett had been “hearing voices” earlier in the evening. She said when she told him there were no voices, he became increasingly agitated, went to the bedroom, retrieved the machete, and approached her. She said she believed he was going to strike her in the side, and when she lowered her arm to protect herself, the blade cut her wrist.
Mollett was arrested at the scene and transported to the detention center. The case remains under investigation.
