RICHMOND, Ky. — An Eastern Kentucky University football player and his father were arrested over the weekend after an alleged assault involving a member of the EKU coaching staff in the stadium parking lot following Saturday night’s game.
According to EKU officials, the incident took place shortly after the game on October 25, when Charles H. Ingram V, a 22-year-old defensive back for the Colonels, and his father, Charles Ingram IV, reportedly confronted and assaulted assistant coach Rashad Watson.
University police were called to the scene and quickly intervened to break up the altercation. Following an initial investigation, both Ingram and his father were taken into custody and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
According to jail records, the two face charges of fourth-degree assault (minor injury), second-degree disorderly conduct, and first-degree criminal mischief. Both were held without bond.
In a statement released by EKU, university officials confirmed the incident and said the student-athlete involved has been suspended from the football team pending the outcome of the investigation.

“The police broke up the altercation, and after an on-site investigation, the coaching staff member was released,” the statement read. “The student-athlete is suspended from the football team. This remains an ongoing investigation.”
As of Sunday afternoon, no additional details have been released regarding the condition of the staff member or what led to the confrontation.
