Family’s Dog Fatally Shot from Passing E-Bike in Casey County, Kentucky
A Casey County family is heartbroken after their dog was fatally shot by a person riding an electric bicycle near their home on Riffe Creek.
According to a post and video shared by Rachel Martin, the incident occurred around 7:22 p.m. on October 16, 2025, while she and some of her family were sitting on their porch.
Rachel’s husband, Greg Martin, said he was in the backyard with his children when he heard their dog suddenly squealing in pain.
“I was standing in the backyard with my baby girl and boy when I heard my dog start squealing like she was in pain,” Greg recalled. “I started walking that way and saw an E-Bike leaving out with a headlight on, doing a wheelie in a hurry. When I got to the pen, I saw that one of our dogs had been shot. I had just fed them 30 minutes before, and she was fine.”
The dog later died from her injuries.
In her public post, Rachel Martin expressed her shock and called for the community’s help, writing:
“Alright Facebook, I know you all can help me out here. Whoever is on this E-Bike shot our dog in her kennel as he rode by. No idea who he is or why he would do this. The whole family was out in the yard, and it could’ve easily been one of my children. If you know who it is or have any information, please message me or Greg.”
The Casey County Police Department has reviewed video footage related to the incident and confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Officials and the family are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the E-Bike involved to come forward and assist investigators.
