Officials identified the inmate as 27-year-old Ryan Rayburn of Ashcamp, Pike County (in photo). Troopers and detectives responded Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. after Rayburn was found unresponsive in his cell. He was transported to Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities confirmed that foul play is suspected, and a person of interest—also an inmate at the facility—is under investigation in connection with Rayburn’s death. The investigation is being led by KSP Detective Jared Wagner, and officials have said the case remains active as more details are gathered. No further information on motive or potential charges has been released. Kentucky State Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
