DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. — The Dawson Springs Independent School System confirmed Friday that two elementary-aged students were found in possession of a “kill list” during class earlier in the day.

According to a statement released by the district, a teacher immediately confiscated the list and removed the students from the classroom. School officials said the situation is being handled “on multiple levels,” and that there does not appear to be any immediate threat to other students or staff.

“We will continue to investigate the situation thoroughly and will take appropriate action,” the district said in its release. “We will also be contacting parents of anyone directly related to any threat.”

Officials emphasized that, because minors are involved, details about the investigation will be limited.

The district thanked parents and the community for their understanding as they continue working to ensure the safety of students and staff across the school system.
