Kentucky Launches New ‘KY Deer & Elk’ Mobile App for Hunters

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky hunters now have a new tool at their fingertips. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, working alongside the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation, has introduced the KY Deer & Elk app — a free mobile resource built to support deer and elk hunters across the state.

The new app offers a variety of features designed to make planning and fieldwork easier. Among its highlights are offline maps showing public land boundaries, county-based planning tools, and quick access to essential services such as processors, taxidermists, and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) testing sites.

Hunters can also store their licenses and telecheck information directly in the app, cutting down on paperwork and keeping everything in one place during a hunt.

Officials say the goal is to give hunters better access to accurate information and improve safety and convenience in the field — even in areas with limited cell service.

The KY Deer & Elk app is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play, with additional details posted on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife website at fw.ky.gov.
