LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. – A Lincoln County woman is facing serious charges after allegedly abusing a non-verbal adult in her care.

48-year-old Sandy Gail Whitaker was arrested on November 14 following an investigation triggered by a report to Adult Protective Services.

Investigators say Whitaker, who was employed as a caretaker for the victim, was caught on video physically assaulting the woman multiple times. The footage reportedly showed her punching the victim in the face, grabbing her by the hair, and jerking her head, leaving bruises on her face and arms.

Initially, Whitaker denied any wrongdoing when questioned by authorities. However, after being informed of the video evidence and advised of her rights, she admitted to physically abusing the victim at least six times over the past year. Investigators documented a large bruise on the left side of the victim’s face and additional marks on her arms.

Whitaker has been charged with knowingly abusing or neglecting an adult and was taken into custody at the Casey County Detention Center.

This case highlights the importance of vigilance and reporting abuse, especially for vulnerable adults who cannot speak for themselves.
