LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – A Laurel County woman was arrested Thursday evening on charges of identity theft and providing false information to law enforcement.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Deputy Daniel Reed arrested 43-year-old Nikki J. Fairchild at approximately 7:04 PM on October 23, 2025, near W. Cumberland Gap Parkway, roughly 10 miles south of London. The arrest occurred while Deputy Reed was responding to an unrelated complaint in the area.

Deputy Reed reportedly recognized Fairchild as having an outstanding warrant. During the encounter, Fairchild provided false personal information and continued to claim a false identity, even after being warned of the consequences. She allegedly used someone else’s Social Security number during the incident.

Fairchild faces charges including theft of identity without consent and giving false identifying information to a law enforcement officer. She was also charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant for failing to appear in court on previous charges of public intoxication related to controlled substances.

Fairchild was taken into custody and lodged at the Laurel County Correctional Center.
