Louisville Man Charged After Wife Found Brutally Killed in Valley Station Home

Louisville Metro Police have taken a 60-year-old man into custody in connection with the violent death of his wife earlier this month in Valley Station. Investigators say Eugenio Santoya Sanchez has been charged with murder (domestic violence), first-degree strangulation, and tampering with physical evidence following the September 14 incident on Autumn Way. Officers were called to the home that morning and discovered Ariannas Hernandez Rivera deceased with severe injuries to her throat. Court documents reveal investigators believe a pillow had been placed over her head. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the area, which showed Sanchez arriving at the home around the same time Rivera was last active on social media. Police say no one else was seen entering or leaving during that critical timeframe. The footage also reportedly shows Sanchez walking across the road twice before placing an unknown item in his trunk and leaving. When questioned, Sanchez was wearing the same clothes seen in the surveillance video and had a deep cut on his hand consistent with an injury from a sharp object, according to police. Sanchez and Rivera were married, and police say the evidence collected—including the video timeline and his injuries—led to his arrest on September 27. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday, September 29.
