A Kentucky mother says her son, a Campbellsville University student and member of the school’s Kayak Fishing Team, has died after going missing during a tournament in Texas. Sara Ashley Hughes confirmed that her son, Peyton Hughes of Springfield, disappeared on September 24 while competing on Toledo Bend Lake in Hemphill, Texas. According to the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, his travel partner alerted authorities when Hughes failed to show up at a designated meeting spot. On Friday morning, Hughes’ mother shared on social media that her son’s body had been recovered from the lake.
