Ohio Mother Accused of Hospitalizing Toddler Dozens of Times Without Medical Need

HAMILTON, Ohio – A Butler County mother is now facing serious allegations after prosecutors say she repeatedly put her 2-year-old son through unnecessary medical treatments and hospital stays.

Jennifer Parker has been charged with three counts of child endangerment after investigators claim she misrepresented her son’s medical condition and sought care he did not need, while at the same time failing to provide the proper care he did require.

According to Butler County prosecutors, Parker’s son has been admitted to hospitals 24 times since he was born. Most of those hospitalizations took place in Florida, where Parker lived until late 2024. After moving back to Ohio, authorities say the toddler was hospitalized four more times in just two months, raising major red flags among medical professionals.

Prosecutor Lindsay Sheehan described Parker’s behavior as a disturbing pattern of “overutilizing inappropriate medical care while underutilizing appropriate medical care,” noting that Parker often sought treatments that were not medically justified. Officials say she repeatedly moved between hospitals — a behavior commonly referred to as “hospital shopping” — in an effort to continue obtaining unnecessary procedures for her son.
