Ronald Exantus Being Returned to Kentucky After Arrest in Florida
The man convicted in the violent stabbing that claimed the life of 6-year-old Logan Tipton is being brought back to Kentucky after his arrest in Florida earlier this month.
Officials in Florida, including Attorney General James Uthmeier, confirmed during a Tuesday press conference that Ronald Exantus is being transported back to Kentucky to resume custody.
Exantus was charged in connection with the 2015 stabbing death of Logan Tipton inside the child’s Versailles home. Although a jury found him not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, he was convicted of three counts of assault for attacking other members of the Tipton family. He was later sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison.
According to officials, Exantus was released from the Kentucky Department of Corrections on October 1 under mandatory re-entry supervision, despite the parole board’s recommendation that he serve his entire sentence behind bars. Exantus chose to complete his supervision in Florida.

Just over a week later, on October 9, Exantus was arrested in Marion County, Florida for failing to register as a felon within 48 hours of his arrival — a requirement under state law.
He has since been taken into custody and will be transported back to Kentucky for further proceedings.
