SWAT Assists in Arrest of 19-Year-Old on Child Endangerment, Drug Trafficking Charges in Northern Kentucky

UNION, Ky. – A 19-year-old man was arrested after a SWAT-assisted search uncovered drugs, weapons, and unsafe conditions for an infant inside a Boone County home.

On November 11, around 3:30 p.m., Boone County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the department’s SWAT team and Crime Suppression Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Station Lane near the Triple Crown neighborhood.

According to court documents, the suspect, identified as Aden Velasquez, allegedly kept THC products and marijuana within reach of his infant child. Deputies also reported finding two loaded handguns left out on a desk in the bedroom he shared with his girlfriend and baby.

Investigators said the room contained a total of seven firearms — including three long guns and four handguns — as well as 33 THC cartridges, roughly 150 grams of marijuana, edibles, and wax. Empty baggies and a scale were also found, suggesting packaging and distribution activity, according to the report.

Officials said some of the weapons were found in an unsecured safe, and marijuana and gummies were lying on the floor, easily accessible to the child..

This report was compiled using information gathered from law enforcement statements, official press releases, and publicly available news sources.

Deputies remained on scene for several hours processing evidence.

This is the second recent SWAT-related response in the area. In June, Boone County deputies were called to the Triple Crown neighborhood for a standoff involving a man accused of firing shots at landscapers and police.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into Velasquez’s case remains ongoing.
