Tragic Hunting Accident Claims Life of Lincoln County Man
WAYNESBURG, Ky. – A weekend hunting trip turned tragic in Lincoln County when a local man was fatally shot in what authorities believe was an accidental shooting.
Officials say 67-year-old Daniel Wilson was out hunting Saturday evening on a family member’s property in the Waynesburg area when he was struck by gunfire. Early reports indicate a teenager fired a shot after noticing movement, unaware it was a person.
Wilson was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators are still piecing together the events leading up to the shooting, including whether the teenager was hunting at the time or involved in another activity on the property.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office.
