Two Former Adair County Jail Employees Arrested on Theft and Misconduct Charges
COLUMBIA, Ky. – Two former employees of the Adair County Regional Jail have been arrested following an investigation into a theft complaint filed last month. According to the Columbia Police Department, Jailer Buddy Powell reported the complaint on August 18, 2025, leading to an investigation that resulted in indictment warrants for Misty M. Shover, 46, and Montie D. Shover, 55, both of Columbia. The two are facing multiple charges, including Theft by Unlawful Taking ($1,000–$10,000), Tampering with Physical Evidence, and First-Degree Official Misconduct. On Tuesday, September 23, the indictment warrants were served by Adair County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Brandon Hitch and Deputy Sheriff Joshua Durbin. Both were booked on $10,000 cash bonds. Columbia Police Chief Evan Burton is continuing the investigation.
