A tragic accident at Eastern Kentucky University has left one contractor dead. The incident happened Tuesday while crews were working on campus. EKU released a statement expressing condolences, saying their thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones during this difficult time. The university also noted that no further details will be shared at this time out of respect for the family and because the investigation is still ongoing. According to the Madison County Coroner, the victim has been identified as Edwin Burton II of Illinois. Investigators say Burton was working in the basement of Telford Hall when a large piece of equipment broke loose and fell on him, resulting in fatal injuries.
